Poem :: Second

Water gushed onto the timber floor
Four minutes apart! Quick out the door!
Indeed Mickey the cat is confused
Past midnight Dave drives, no time to lose
Milk float blocks path, refuses to move
Hey! Time to arrive. Who needs to prove?

Giant black cat eyes keep watch at bay
Whittington's ceiling paint peels away
Filled full of gas and air in the head
Consciousness numbed, not to be afraid
Adrenaline to accelerate
Your presence I so anticipate

Purring voices repeat loud to soft
Swaddled tightly wrapped in cotton cloth
Take deep breaths, warm love is here to stay
Elation takes place, feels blessed today
