Poem :: A Pat

Solitary imperfect round form falls on an unfamiliar field

Someone's heart knows forth of how it feels

But as the stench cries out for love of thee

Backs turn away from its desperate plea

Alas! A dainty yellow flower peeks from its side

Hold thy whole self up with pride

The flower's outstretched hand nourishes

Positive thoughts encouraged with bouquets to flourish

Poem :: Emus

Two yacca grass trees on four knobbly legs
The necks swivelled 'round like  periscope sticks
Lazily stroll across the arid plains
Land of plentiful lays straight ahead

Watch out! Over the crest appeared our car
Blinding sunset over dashboard, we jolted our hearts
The grass trees carelessly loped
Legs criss-crossed on the red dusty slope

Bundled themselves out of harms way
Narrowly survived for another day
The predators keep keen watch
Salivating for this meal to lay on their front porch
